Something Useful To Share

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don't exactly remember when but if I'm not mistaken, last year 1Borneo has reserved the parking spots near some of the entrance into the mall for disabled people. Kudos to 1Borneo for making it OKU*-friendly. However, those parking spots are often misused by irresponsible people; lazy people who doesn't even care that there might be someone less fortunate who really needs the spot. Perhaps 1Borneo should consider hiring people to monitor the spot and i don't know, maybe chain the vehicle who misused that space.

Talking about less fortunate people, have you ever heard about NMEDA? No, NMEDA is not in charge of monitoring parking lots for people with disabilities hehe :-D NMEDA is actually a non-profit trade association that helps to broadened the opportunities for disabled people to drive or be transported in specially modified vehicles. They don't sell anything, but they promote safe driving, provide and improve transportation options for elderly or people with disabilities.

NMEDA has Dealers AND Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers.

Members of this association includes mobility equipment dealers, driver rehabilitation specialists, and other professionals who are more than willing to help with anything the less-fortunates needed.

The Quality Assurance Program (QAP) is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It is based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality. The program was developed to elevate the level of dealer performance to reliably meet consumers' transportation needs in the safest manner possible.

Dealers who participate in QAP must adhere to extremely high standards. Among the requirements are that they need to have certified welders if they perform structural modifications to vehicles, undergo an inspection/audit process at least annually by an independent auditing firm to ensure compliance to the NMEDA Guidelines, certain aspects of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and "Make Inoperative" mandates and provide 24 hour service to their customers. There are actually 6 more requirements but these 3 alone have already provide a clear picture that all members of NMeda provides high quality equipments.

Just think how much the less-fortunate can benefit from NMEDA. Too bad in my part of the world, there are no NMeda dealers yet. If we do, then those irresponsible drivers have absolutely no excuse for taking up the designated parking lot for the disabled.

why don't you check out their websites and see if there's a dealer near you? by the way, you can also follow them on Twitter or Facebook for any latest updates :-)

cheers!
