Empty Pages
One evening a young woman went alone to walk barefoot by the ocean after the sun had set. She stopped in her path and turned so she could see the footsteps she had left in the sand. But they had already been washed away by the waves. When she turned to continue her walk, she was startled by the presence of an old woman wrapped in a blanket who, out of nowhere, appeared sitting by a fire, slowly paging through the leaves of a leather-covered book.
She walked up to the woman and asked, "Where did you come from? I didn't see you here a moment ago. And how did you start this fire so quickly?" Her questions went unanswered but there instead met with a reply in a serene voice. "Sit with me, child. I have something to show you."
As the young woman sat down beside the fire, the mysterious stranger handed her the book. She curiously turned the pages one by one and was amazed to discover they contained the story of her whole life from the early days of childhood to the present. She then came to the page telling of her encounter with the old woman by the fire during her walk on the beach, but upon turning to the next page, she found it empty. She frantically began to turn the rest of the pages in the book, only to find that they too were all empty. In bewilderment, she looked to the old woman and pleaded with her to explain.
"Does this mean my life ends this night?"
"No, my child. It means tonight your life begins."
At that moment the old woman took the book into her own hands and began to tear out each of the pages that had words, throwing them one by one into the fire until all that was left were blank pages. She handed the book of empty pages to the young woman.

The House of a 1000 Mirrors
Long ago in a small, far away village, there was a place known as the House of a 1000 Mirrors. A small happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the House he thought to himself "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often."

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.
The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

The last few days, my hard disk died so... I cant update my blog. I dunno, it took them almost a week to find me a new one. I've lost all my stuff which means, I have to re-do the web design which I was working on. :-P I hate doing that. Anyway, at least, I wont feel bored anymore.
One of my ex-classmates is getting married this Saturday but too bad I cant attend her wedding coz I have to attend a pre-marriage talk. :-P I know it's going to be a loooooong day but we really have to get the cert if we're to be married in a church.

I love inspirational stories very much - especially the sad ones. The story below is one of my favorites.
The Father's Gift
A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.
Curious, and somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he rose his voice to his father and said "with all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realised his father very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still gift-wrapped Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt.7:11, "And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

I can foresee that today is going to be a tough day. Can u believe it? I've just arrived at the office and I haven't even turn on my pc yet, that lady - the prof's PA - called. She's was like reminding me that i've promised her to send someone to look into her boss machine. Well, a few things that I really hate about this place is that nobody is updating u on what's going on. After two days being chased by that lady, then only I know that the prof's IP has been blocked! How come nobody informed me about this before? Now, what am i going to say if she calls up again? After a few days of browsing and surfing, looking for websites dedicated to blog skin, I finnaly manage to change the look of my blog. Now it looks much better. I'm not saying that it looks really cool, still dull of course but much better than before. Now, I think I'd better start looking for cute images to go with my blue and pink theme.

Yesterday, I was editing my blog template, trying to give it a new look but it's so hard to find the right color and design. I want something that represents me. :-P This is the best that I can do! I've browsed others' blog and they're amazing. I wonder how they they can come up such designs. They have all this nice images, icons, nice blends of colors... why cant I make mine like that? I dont even have any idea on what else to put on my side bar! Arghhhhh... I'm just so upset with myself.

Wow... time flies. I was so into editing my blog that I didn't realize it's time to go home. Well, I still have to wait for my fiance to pick me up anyway but, I'm free to play games and whatsoever. I think my blog looks really dull but I dunno what else to do/add to make it more beautiful. I think I'm the most uncreative person alive. No sense of color-matching and decorating. That's why my website was never completed.
A few days ago, one of the managers in the company I worked before came to see me asking me a favor. She wants me to do some jobs for them and she said she'll pay me. I dont think they'll pay me much but since the jobs are quite simple and plus the fact that I'm broke right now (yeah... I know, and we're not even into the middle of the month), I just have to say yes :-(. And then, some of the uni students in one of the private uni ask me to do their assignments for them. They said they'll pay soooo... I think I'll just have to do it :-( Really, the past 4-5 months, my life is really a mess. Everything is unorganized. My career and my income was unstable. When can I lead a normal life...???? Soon.... real soon. (Comforting myself...)
Last Saturday, went to two weddings. Hmmm... people getting married. I'm not sure how would my wedding be. It's six months away and still, I haven't done anything yet. No savings at all. Actually, deep inside, I'm scared. I don't think I'm ready to settle down. Even though my fiance and I have been together for many years, I still feel like I'm not ready yet. I can't even manage my finance yet,let alone managing a family, I mean, taking care of a family. Will I be able to juggle between career and family? Who'll take care of my kids when I'm off to work?
hmm... I think I'd better stop mumbling now. My fiance will be here any minute now. Write again soon...

STORY NUMBER ONE
Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago. Capone wasn't famous for anything heroic. He was notorious for enmeshing the windy city in everything from bootlegged booze and prostitution to murder.
Capone had a lawyer nicknamed "Easy Eddie." He was his lawyer for a good reason... Eddie was very good!
In fact, Eddie's skill at legal maneuvering kept Big Al out of jail for a long time. To show his appreciation, Capone paid him very well. Not only was the money big, but Eddie got special dividends. For instance, he and his family occupied a fenced-in mansion with live-in help and all of the conveniences of the day. The estate was so large that it filled an entire Chicago City block. Eddie lived the high life of the Chicago mob and gave little consideration to the atrocity that went on around him.
Eddie did have one soft spot, however. He had a son that he loved dearly. Eddie saw to it that his young son had the best of everything: clothes, cars and a good education. Nothing was withheld. Price was no object.
And, despite his involvement with organized crime, Eddie even tried to teach him right from wrong. Eddie wanted his son to be a better man than he was. Yet, with all his wealth and influence, there were two things he couldn't give his son; that he couldn't pass on a good name and a good example.
One day, Easy Eddie reached a difficult decision. Easy Eddie wanted to rectify wrongs he had done. He decided he would go to the authorities and tell the truth about Al "Scar face" Capone, clean up his tarnished name and offer his son some semblance of integrity.
To do this, he would have to testify against The Mob, and he knew that the cost would be great. So, he testified. Within the year, Easy Eddie's life ended in a blaze of gunfire on a lonely Chicago Street. But in his eyes, he had given his son the greatest gift he had to offer, at the greatest price he would ever pay.

World War II produced many heroes. One such man was Lieutenant Commander Butch O'Hare. He was a fighter pilot assigned to the aircraft carrier Lexington in the South Pacific.
One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was airborne, he looked at his fuel gauge and realized that someone had forgotten to top off his fuel tank. He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get back to his ship. His flight leader told him to return to the carrier.
Reluctantly, he dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet. As he was returning to the mother ship he saw something that turned his blood cold. A squadron of Japanese aircraft was speeding their way toward the American fleet.
The American fighters were gone on a sortie, and the fleet was all but defenseless. He couldn't reach his squadron and bring them back in time to save the fleet. Nor could he warn the fleet of the approaching danger. There was only one thing to do. He must somehow divert them from the fleet.
Laying aside all thoughts of personal safety, he dove into the formation of Japanese planes. Wing-mounted 50 caliber's blazed as he charged in, attacking one surprised enemy plane and then another. Butch wove in and out of the now broken formation and fired at as many planes as possible until all his ammunition was finally spent. Undaunted, he continued the asault. He dove at the planes, trying to clip a wing or tail in hopes of damaging as many enemy planes as possible and rendering them unfit to fly.
Finally, the exasperated Japanese squadron took off in another direction. Deeply relieved, Butch O'Hare and his tattered fighter limped back to the carrier. Upon arrival he reported in and related the event surrounding his return.
The film from the gun-camera mounted on his plane told the tale. It showed the extent of Butch's daring attempt to protect his fleet. He had in fact destroyed five enemy aircraft.
This took place on February 20, 1942, and for that action Butch became the Navy's first Ace of W.W.II, and the first Naval Aviator to win the Congressional Medal of Honor. A year later Butch was killed in aerial combat at the age of 29. His home town would not allow the memory of this WW II hero to fade, and today, O'Hare Airport in Chicago is named in tribute to the courage of this great man. So the next time you find yourself at O'Hare International, give some thought to visiting Butch's memorial displaying his statue and his Medal of Honor. It's located between Terminals 1 and 2.

Haven't blogged for quite some time. A big thanks to the Blaster virus for making us totally disconnected with the outside world. I can't imagine how on earth can we get by with our lives without the internet before. I mean... my God, I was off the net for only about 2 weeks and I thought I was going mad. No news from any of my friends, and oya, btw, I cant sms bcos something stupid happened to my phone's operator service (or something) and I can't call coz I'm way over my credit limit. Huh!! So much of IT era! Hopefully, everything will turn back to normal now.
Hmmm... I'm now working in a new place. Much closer to home. Being in a new place... new environment, you just have to be all extra-friendly to your surroundings. I hate it! I really hope I can get over this getting-to-know-you stage real soon. BTW, I manage to make some friends. I'm quite surprised coz I've been here for not even one week and I already have quite a number of friends. That's an improvement, compared to the last time, it took me almost 6 months to adapt to the new environment. I really hope that I won't have to switch jobs anymore.
Actually, I don't know what else to write. I enjoyed reading others' blogs and I wonder how they can write such interesting stuff. Mine is like "boring!!!". Anyway, I'll try to make it as interesting as possible. What??!!! 16:24??? 6 more minutes to go and TIME'S UPPP....!!! Time to go home. Tomorrow's our off day and the day after is Sunday. Yayyyy!!! I can sleep until noon...:-P Have to attend two weddings tomorrow. :-( Have to give "ang pow"... :-( There goes my 100 this month.
I was trying to sign in to msn groups but it was damn slow. Maybe I'll post this one first. I'll write again later. Til then......
Hmmm... I'm now working in a new place. Much closer to home. Being in a new place... new environment, you just have to be all extra-friendly to your surroundings. I hate it! I really hope I can get over this getting-to-know-you stage real soon. BTW, I manage to make some friends. I'm quite surprised coz I've been here for not even one week and I already have quite a number of friends.
