Etymology: Latin verbosus, from verbum
1 : containing more words than necessary : WORDY ; also : impaired by wordiness
2 : given to wordiness
I was "again" out of ideas for the last two or three days - just dont know what to write. I spent times reading other people's blog and some of them are very well written. You keep reading even though they talk about nothing but they way they wrote them... i wish i can write something like that. I wish that my blog can be a verbose blog. I dont want to go complaining on everything, well... maybe sometimes i'll write something that will sound like complaints but i'll try to minimize that.
i always wanted to write about life. it's not that i've lived long enough to be able to write about LIFE but, you see, what i see everyday can be a lesson in life when i came to think about it. What i've heard... i think it's worth sharing.
well... looks like i have to cut this short. something came up that needs to be taken care of... i'll write again soon, probably in the evening...
till then
...Just trust the voice within, Then you'll find the strength, That will guide your way...

Avoirdupois
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English avoir de pois goods sold by weight, from Old French, literally, goods of weight
1. Avoirdupois weight, a system of weights based on a pound containing 16 ounces or 7,000 grains (453.59 grams).
2. Weight; heaviness; as, a person of much avoirdupois.
I think I am a person of much avoirdupois. you see, i am 155cm and i weigh 60kg. Try and calculate my BMI, you'd agree with me. 2 years ago, my weight was 47kg. hmmm... I miss my 47kg body; shopping for clothes has never been easier. Now :-P, have to keep asking whether they have a larger size, and usually they don't. :-P
Hmm... hungryyyyyyyy

Enlightenment
1. The act or a means of enlightening.
2. The state of being enlightened.
so, the word of the day today is Enlightment. why enlightment? coz just now i was actually doing some research on Buddhism for my TITAS assignment. I came across one article and of course it's written in english. it's exactly the material i need but the thing is, it's written with so many big & sophisticated words - which seldom or rather rarely entered my list of daily vocabs - which i find so hard to translate to Malay. oh, by the way, my assignment MUST be written in Malay.Plus, my Malay is not even that good though it's one of my main language. and enlightenment is one of the words contained in that article. so, anybody??? what's enlightenment in Malay? I just cant find the right word. Must be the right word, otherwise, my assignment will become a hilarious piece of work - far from the actual meaning. Sometimes, you really have to be careful in selecting the right words when translating anything English to Malay. or else, this will happen :
Example:
"That server gives a plug and play service to the clients using either hardware or software joystick. The joystick goes into the port of the client."
Translated:
"Pelayan itu memberi pelanggannya layanan cucuk dan main dengan mempergunakan batang bahagia jenis keras atau lembut. Batang bahagia itu dimasukkan ke dalam lubang pelanggan."
Another version of translation :
"pelayan jenis pasang dan main akan memberi perkhidmatan kepada pelanggan dengan mengguna kayu ria jenis peranti atau perisian. kayu ria itu dipasang ke dalam lubang pelanggan."
Yet another version :
"server jenis pasang dan main akan memberi servis kepada klien dengan mengguna benda keras atau benda ringan jenis kayu girang. kayu girang itu dimasukkan ke dalam lubang klien."
what do you think? hmmm...
another e-mail i've received...
Cakera Keras = Hard Disk - Sounds like an olympics event to me.
Tetikus = Mouse - Wonder what a big mouse would be called - Memondok?
Papan Kunci = Keyboard - sounds like that wooden case where the Pak Guard keeps the keys to the school classrooms. Yeah...one big papan with a whole lot of kunci.
CD-ROM = Cakera Padat Ingatan Melalui Pembacaan (CP-IMP) - Isn't that bit too much to ingat? Try pronouncing that without twisting your tongue or pausing to think. IMPs?
Monitor = What's the term for this? KETUA DARJAH?
Modem = Could it be called "PEMPEND" <-- PEModulasi, PENDemodulasi?
Motherboard = "Papan Ibu" probably? Maybe the best motherboards can be awarded the "Papan Ibu Mithali" then?
Sound Card = Kad Bunyi?
Sound Blaster = Peletup Bunyi?
Pipeline Burst Cache = Duite Garisan Paip Meletup?
Local Bus = Bas Tempatan? Sounds good to me.
VESA Local Bus = Bas Tempatan VESA?
Flatbed = Katil leper? OR Katil Rumah Pangsa (Flat)?
WWW = Sarang labah-labah Selebar Dunia (SSD)? Sounds quite convincing to me. Then what would you call daughterboards? Papan anak perempuan? That sounds a little kinky for me ) What about SIMMs and DIMMs and such...?
*laf* wonder what would you call ink jets then Pancutan Dakwat???
What about "Plug and Play [tm]"? Hmmm..Plug and play....Cucuk dan Main??? Somehow I think not.
Joystick = Batang Gembira or Batang Ria?? **** obscene man!!
well, most of these are computer terms but same applies with other terms... so, really, have to be really careful.
Sabah is on holiday today, celebrating our Independence Day. Hmmm?? Malaysia celebrates it on 31st August? well, actually, that's the Independence Day for "Tanah Melayu" or "Malaya". Sabah & (if i'm not mistaken - my History sucks too) Sarawak celebrate on 16 Sept. Feels like Sunday. I think I'm lucky being Sabahan. We have a lot of holidays. Malaysia has a lot of holidays, Sabah has a lot more. On New Years Day - holiday, on Good Friday - holiday, 16 Sept - Holiday... wooohooooo!!!! so many holidays. Back in 2002, i had a chance to join an international programme and in that programme, i've met an australian girl. she was really surprised coz we have so many holidays per year. She said, in Australia they only celebrate a few like emmm... oh, i think i forgot... hmmmm... if i'm not mistaken, Christmas and Queen... was it Queen Victoria's Birthday? - i dont really remember... i'm not sure about new year's day... forgot :-)
ok... i think i need to continue with my assignment. till the next entry... hope i'll get enlightened after this :-) tata...
