when I was workin' in tourism I read this book on how to get along with people... all the advice in the book were very much like the one you got from your mail... they were good advice and I have gained many friends from implementing the advice.....
but one day came a real dilemma... when I encountered someone who would only talk about herself and nothing else.... God knows how I tried to stay "genuinely interested" but it just got too overwhelming after a while. There are times when I am tempted to say "Okay I know how the world revolves around you .. and all. But could you for once stop talking about yourself all the time? I already know you inside and out... I don't need to know more....."
I guess I am not that big of a person. I know how people tend to love talking about what they do and all because sometimes we have this super-low self-esteem and the only way to to get rid of that is to talk non-stop about what we think is interesting about ourselves... but some people are just too extreme they should have a personal blog to stroke their ego - in other words these people... not even a good book or years of wisdom could teach you how to handle them... annoying isn't it.... plus, bosses don't have time to read forwarded mails or philosophical books maybe that's why they behave the way they do....
am I rambling... goodness gracious me. I am rambling!... and this is not even my blog! Pardon me! Hehe
I read that book long time ago in high school. Easier said that done for my case.
Baizurah, maybe you should try this other book i saw, but i have to admit I have yet to read (i was curious though :) ) "Emotional Vampires : Dealing with People Who Drain You Dry"
